Gold Leaf

I read Elle Decor as fanatically as I do Vogue, often saving it until I have a long plane ride when I don't have access to email so I can pore over it page by page.   I pulled these images of Brian Atwood's Milan apartment from the archives.  The mix of textures, varying glossy surfaces, color, and design periods all anchored by a timeless sofa are geniously edited.   It reinforces the principle that in design and in fashion, having amazing basics as anchors allows you to experiment with more avant garde pieces.  Though if this apartment has taught us anything, it's that gold is always the perfect accessory.
